(More customer reviews)After wearing out my 15 year old $10 slicer it was time for a modest upgrade. I am very pleased with the Oxo V-Blade Mandoline. The v-blade gives even slices and seems easier to control pressure while slicing. The crinkle cuts look great and the thickness dial is a breeze compared to switching out blades. It has performed well on ripe tomatoes (to my surprise), mangos, squash, cabbage and mushrooms. I pulled out the cutting glove (an unused gift to this point) and it was wonderful for slippery items like peeled mangos and small items like mushrooms. I have not tried the holder yet because cutting glove is so easy to use.
Folding flat, blades storing under the cutting surface, the cutting blade lock for storage and the non slip feet are all great upgrades from my old slicer. The Oxo website has a video showing how to get to the stored blades and how to change blades - both are super easy to do - it would not have been intuitive for me without reading the directions. Once you see it done, it makes sense.
No, it's not a $100+ professional slicer, but very good quality for the price and a wonderful upgrade from my old slicer.

The very versatile OXO Good Grips V-Blade Mandoline slices fruits and vegetables with ease. Four blades and a simple height adjuster make straight slices, crinkle cuts, French fries and julienne strips in a variety of thicknesses. The blades store on board and are easily removable for cleaning. A textured surface keeps food from sticking to the Mandoline and the food holder securely holds food and protects fingers. The handle and turning knob are soft for comfort and non-slip feet keep the Mandoline secure on the work surface. Fold the feet and lock the Mandoline for compact and safe storage. Hand wash the blades; the Mandoline body and food holder are dishwasher safe.
